UV Mapping Tutorial

In simple language UV Mapping is a process of projecting a 2D image to a 3D object's surface for texture mapping. The "U" and "V" simply means direction in 2D space like X, Y and Z in 3D space. You can't paint directly on the 3D model. The 3D model should be cut into a 2D flat surface. For example take World map. Our earth is a sphere but we have cut the sphere into a flat surface, that we call map.
